Camp Taconic has a long-standing tradition of being involved with many philanthropic organizations. We teach our campers about the importance of giving back and caring for others and help them to evolve into selfless, loyal, and passionate people. Over the years Taconic has been involved with many philanthropic organizations including SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education), Habitat for Humanity, the Hinsdale Food Pantry, Dream Boxes, and Camp-to-Belong.
Beginning in 2016, our Leaders in Training have been hosting our annual Strides4SCOPE event. One day each summer, the entire camp walks approximately two miles together to raise money and awareness for SCOPE. We are incredibly proud to have raised more than $100,000 for SCOPE since the start of this initiative, which has sent more than 76 children to summer camp who would not have otherwise been given that opportunity. Many of our LITs and campers have chosen to remain involved with SCOPE during the school year as well. Our LIT program has a community service component as part of the LIT caravan trip. The Camp Taconic experience helps to encourage our community to be helpful, caring and supportive.
