Jill and Loren Kleinman, owners and directors of Camp Taconic, are seasoned leaders and nurturing
individuals who love working with children. Together, they oversee
the operations of camp and enjoy working closely with the campers
and counselors.
Both graduates of Brown University,
Jill and Loren have been involved in sports. Jill played
tennis through school while Loren was on the baseball team.
Feeling compelled to work with children,
Jill put her economics degree and CPA background to work by owning
a children’s book and toy store for ten years.
Additionally, she has volunteered as President of the Tenafly
Youth Basketball Organization for the past six years.
Loren, a civil engineer by profession,
has dedicated his time as the President of Temple Sinai of Bergen
County.
In the off-season, they continue to be active participants, coaches and administrators
in local organizations. Their three children, Dawn, Cari and Jason spend their
summers working and enjoying camp.
Both Jill and Loren spend each
day committed to making Taconic one of the finest camps in
the industry.
In addtion to the Kleinman's,
Mark & Meryl Transport bring lifetimes of
camping experience to the Camp Taconic management team. The Transports have been involved in camp ownership for 15 years, and have dedicated their full attention to Camp Taconic during the 2006 season. Together with the Kleinmans, they enjoy directing the campers and staff during the summer, and the planning and cultivating of programs and facilities throughout the year.
Mark received a dental degree from NYU graduating in the first six year class BA/DDS in the country. He has maintained a private practice for 25 years. Meryl graduated from the University of Maryland and worked in advertising and marketing for many years.
Together with their daughter Jillian, the Transports reside in Dix Hills in Suffolk County. Jillian has been around camp all of her life and she loved her first season at Taconic!
After the summer, Meryl is active in school life and Mark is on the Temple Board at Beth Torah in Melville. The family spends a lot of time in the Berkshires during the winters as well pursuing their skiing interest. Mark and Meryl have fallen in love with the Taconic family and gorgeous surroundings. They collectively bring over 40 years of camping experience as they help guide Camp Taconic for years to come.
